I've had Subarus as long as my driver's license. My parent's each drove '92 Subarus, my mom a Legacy and my dad a Loyale, while I was in High School. When I got my license I began driving the Loyale much of the time. But being Front Wheel Drive and a 3-speed Automatic, I was pretty bored of it. I bought a 1985 Dual-Range 4WD GL Wagon, which was a blast, but the combination of the carbeurated 1.8l and the rust problem made it an unreliable car.

I moved on to an '88 wagon with SPFI, and having come from Oregon didn't have the rust problem. I installed a 4" lift in it, and wheeled the daylights out of it.

About that time, my mom decided that her Legacy, now with about 230k miles on it, needed replacing. And I wanted something with better street manners. So I began a little project. Using the engine from the legacy, the 4WD and 5-speed parts from the '85, and a Full-time 4WD Dual-Range transmission and rear LSD from a Subaru RX, began turning my Loyale into a beast.

But due to an extreme lack of information on the swap, it took me the better part of 3 months. I finally did get it running, and vowed to compile all the information available into one source so anyone can see what's involved. (available in the Download section)

As a result, I gained a quick understanding of reading diagrams and finding what's necessary to make an engine run out of it's element. As a result, I began offering my time and experience to prepare other peoples harnesses for them. Turns out there's some demand for this kind of work.......and so, Numbchux Conversions was born. Welcome!
